They've served quite well and the price was right. The only modification was to attach the lower hook with a section of inner tube instead of using their velcro'ed web strap. It's not as secure as the web strap would be, but mounting and removal of the bags is speedy now.

I also added reflective safety tape to the panniers. The original stuff wore off pretty quick.

from the flatlands of Peoria,

Steve KurtAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6323331624230590906.post-6057654008239298442009-10-24T09:50:41.182-05:002009-10-24T09:50:41.182-05:00Thanks for the hands-on review of the new mounting...Thanks for the hands-on review of the new mounting system, Steve. I was actually thinking about ordering one to upgrade my old bag, but maybe now I won't bother. I really like the simplicity of the old Arkel attachment... there's just nothing to go wrong with it!Jason T. Honestly. I prefer their older system. I've found that the amount of pressure needed to loosen the cam locks on the new system is enough to lift the back of the bike off of the ground, especially if the bags are empty.Steve Fullerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04000254083516026697noreply@blogger.com
